Happy Birthday …

When you were born,
I hoped only that you were healthy,
and you were.
As you learned to crawl and then to walk,
I hoped that you would see the world as an exciting place to explore,
a place full of amazing and interesting new experiences,
and you did.
As you grew up and began to make a life of your own,
I hoped that you would become intelligent and insightful and
caring and giving,
and you have.
And, over the years that have past and for all the years to come,
I hope most of all that you are happy.
